Method
 

Preparation and Roasting
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Rinse the green beans and dry them thoroughly.
  3. Trim the stem ends of the green beans. If they're extra long, cut them in half.
  4. In a bowl, toss the green beans with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread the green beans on a sheet pan in a single layer.
  6. Roast for 12 to 16 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through.
  7. Add parmesan cheese for the last 2 to 3 minutes so it melts and sticks.
  8. Finish with lemon juice and zest if desired.

Notes

These green beans are best served immediately, but leftovers can be reheated in a hot skillet or in the oven to maintain crispiness. Avoid using the microwave for best results.
