Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 to 1.25 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined Use large shrimp for better texture.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil Choose a cleaner cooking fat.
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic, minced Can use garlic-infused oil if sensitive.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated Can substitute 1/4 teaspoon dried ginger.
  • 3 tablespoons honey Adjust quantity for lower sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice For freshness.
  • pinch red pepper flakes Optional for heat.
  • to taste salt and black pepper Use sparingly.
  • to garnish green onions or parsley For finishing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Dry the shrimp by patting them with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix honey, coconut aminos, ginger, and lemon juice to make the sauce.
Cooking
  1. Warm oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through.
  3. Push shrimp to the side, add garlic to the empty spot, and stir for 20 to 30 seconds.
  4. Pour the sauce into the pan and toss shrimp for 30 to 60 seconds until glossy.
  5. Turn off the heat as the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with green onions and taste; add a pinch of salt if needed.

Notes

Prevent shrimp from overcooking by avoiding overcrowding the pan. Burnt garlic can alter the dish’s flavor, so add it later in the cooking process.
